Praying for Agapé

Farsi Website
7 March 2010

Praise God for the tremendous response to the www.doustibakhoda.com evangelistic website in Farsi. The First Acts team are training fifteen people to be online coaches. This field is so huge and there are very few workers. Pray for more Farsi-speaking workers to join the First Acts team.

Lunch time talk
1 March 2010

The University of Birmingham Student Life society is putting on a lunch time talk on Thursday 4th March with the provocative title "Jesus, prostitutes and the best sex of your life". The talk will address some common issues amongst student culture from a Christian perspective. Please pray for many non-believing students to come and for God to speak deeply to them.

Agapé Support Network
28 February 2010

Give thanks for those who financially and prayerfully support the work of Agapé, whether that is by supporting staff or projects.  As our supporters bless us, we want our partnerships with them to also be a blessing.  Pray for great communication and lasting relationships between our staff and their support teams.

Couples saved by prayer
25 February 2010

When2Pray is a collaboration of a number of ministries including FamilyLife. We ran a prayer challenge for couples at the beginning of this year which has now finished and we’ve just heard that out of the couples we have been praying for over the last 7 weeks, 2 affairs have been stopped in their tracks, with one husband now reading his bible and praying again, and an unsaved husband has given his life to the Lord. PRAISE GOD!

Do pray that many people would attend the special day of prayer for marriage on 24th April (see events).

St Patrick's Day Event
23 February 2010

The Birmingham Student Life student leaders are planning a St Patrick’s Day party in March. Please pray that many non-believers would come along and that God would provide many opportunities for them to hear the gospel. Please pray for the community being built in Birmingham, particularly that Christians would practically demonstrate Christ’s love.

Scotland's Big Three
23 February 2010

The Glasgow Student Life team recently attended a national prayer event in Edinburgh as part of the 24/7 prayer movement. We were asked to bring a few headline prayer needs and Andy, one of our Glasgow Student Leaders put some thought into it and came up with our big three:

  1. Identity: that God would help us continue to clearly define who and what Student Life are here in Scotland and how we can help students live life awake.
  2. Community: that we would continue to grow as people who are genuinely interested in exploring who God is and how he can help students live life awake.
  3. Urgency: we are looking for the antidote to apathy and this word seems to best sum up what we're after. How do we help students here in Scotland wake up to the amazing possibilities of a life lived awake with God?
Student Leader training weekend
23 February 2010

From 5th-7th March, students involved in leading movements on their local campuses around the UK are gathering together in Birmingham for a weekend of training. Please pray for a really fruitful time where students can share ideas together to take back to their own campuses. Please pray that God would use this time to challenge and encourage Student Leaders so that many students would put their faith in Christ as a result.

Canadians in Glasgow
23 February 2010

Thank God for the bunch of Canadians who travelled all the way to Glasgow to add some energy and man power to the Glaswegian studentlife movement last week. Please pray for God to guide those considering returning for a full year.

Meeting Muslims
23 February 2010

Please pray for the 'Meeting Muslims full of grace and truth' event taking place in the North of England on Saturday 27th February. This has been organised by a number of Christian agencies and is an opportunity for Christians to receive some training in how to cross cultures and begin interacting with Muslims in a culturally sensitive way. Pray for God's Spirit to speak through those leading the sessions and for good friendships to be forged between Christians and Muslims off the back of this event.

Trip to Horn of Africa
23 February 2010

Please pray for our Agapé staff travelling to the horn of Africa to visit long-term staff based out there. Pray for a blessed, safe and fruitful trip with a clear sense of God's leading during meetings and discussions.

Agapé Leadership Team
21 February 2010

Pray for wisdom, clarity and focus for Agapé’s leadership.  Javier Garcia, David Wilson and Hans Pruis (who lead Agapé Europe) are meeting this week.  And the UK’s National Leadership Team is also meeting for their quarterly review.  Pray for clear priorities and direction in their meetings.

The Qizilbash People
18 February 2010

Pray for God's Spirit to be reaching the Qizilbash people of Afghanistan through dreams and visions. Pray for him to raise up Afghani believers who would be willing to take the message of Jesus to these people and for linguists to help translate the Scriptures into their language.

Far East Summer Project
18 February 2010

Pray for those organising the Far East Summer Project as they meet with a key in-country contact this week to make plans and preparations. Pray for good communication and God's guidance in the next steps of the planning process and a financial blessing on our in-country contact to enable them to return soon.

Praise God for his Provision for Hannah
18 February 2010

Praise God for answered prayer in providing new Agapé staff member, Hannah, with sufficient finances to travel out to Paris to join her new team today. Pray for safe travels, the provision of a well located place to live and energy to converse in French (particularly for her team retreat next week in which they'll be studying Leviticus - not always easy in your first language let alone your second!).

Pam goes to Haiti
18 February 2010

On Thursday 18th Feb, Agapé staff member Pam Robertshaw from Oxford flew to Haiti to serve as a nurse as part of a medical team with GAiN. The team of nurses, doctors and trauma counsellors are running emergency clinics in response to the recent earthquake there. Pam is there for 10 days, landing back in the UK on the 1st March. Please join us in praying for Pam and the team, remembering that Jesus can do far more than all we ask or imagine!

Praise God:

  • for this opportunity to demonstrate God’s love in word and deed to those suffering after this terrible earthquake
  • for His provision for Pam and the team to be able to go

Please pray:

  • for safe travels for Pam, and the rest of the team (who are from the USA and Canada)
  • that God will use the team to bring physical and spiritual healing to those they minister to and care for in Haiti; pray for God to be working miraculously through the team’s medical skills
  • for God to give Pam all that she needs as a nurse; that He will bless her to be a blessing
  • for opportunities to share the amazing love and hope of Jesus to those who are seeking to re-build their lives after this tragedy
  • that God will give spiritual, emotional, physical and mental strength to Pam and the team, as they experience the devastation in the many lives there. Pray that they will rely on Jesus for all that they need, and that His peace will guard their hearts and minds at all times.
  • for health and safety for Pam and the team; pray for God’s protection, and that they will know Jesus’ eternal presence with them in all situations
  • pray that people will turn to Jesus, and that the nation of Haiti will have a testimony of God’s faithfulness amidst suffering.
Nottingham and Glasgow Student Life
14 February 2010

Agapé Student Life has pioneered two brand new movements in Nottingham and Glasgow this year.  Now well into a new term, pray for strong partnerships and growing Student Leaders in both of these university cities.  Pray also for close relationships between team members, as well as good friendships and church connections.

What is love, actually?
11 February 2010

Please give thanks for this fun evening for couples led by Gary and Jan Palmer on Friday 12th February which was hosted by a group of churches from the Stantonbury ecumenical parish, Milton Keynes. Couples who had been married in the last 2 years were invited and 26 people came to be served a wonderful meal by the church leaders and their wives. People said they were given food for thought as well as a delcious 3 course meal. Feedback was very positive we were told 'an excellent evening all round!

Do pray for all the couples and church leaders to continue to be blessed, for strong marriages and deepening spiritual interest for the non-believers.
