Student Leaders

"Agapé Student Life is committed to the audacious principle of student leadership - the belief that students are best placed to make Jesus known at their own universities. Throughout history, wherever students have stepped up to lead the effects have been powerful, creative and contagious. Our job as Agapé staff is to be experts in spotting and developing potential, helping equip students to lead. We want to inspire student leaders that God wants to use them to make a difference at their universities and in the lives of their peers." (Andy Atkins, Agapé UK National Director)

Adam Bricknell
University of Birmingham - Student Life Treasurer

Adam is a second year Physics student at the University of Birmingham. He's been involved with Agapé Student Life since it launched in June 2009. He explains: "For most of my first year I'd never really thought about leading anything, but when Agapé Student Life was kicking off, I was asked if I wanted to be a leader. It seemed like a really good idea so I went for it. I knew the difference knowing God had made to my life and that it wasn't just some religious thing, so I thought I'd get more involved."

Nanette Kissi
University of Birmingham

Nanette is a 3rd year Biology student at the University of Birmingham. She explains why she became a Student Leader: "The reason I became an Agapé Student Leader is because I wanted to be comfortable sharing Jesus with people around me - something I find quite difficult. Since it was something I’d been praying about for ages it felt like the right thing to do. I also thought that by getting involved I would learn a lot and mature as a Christian."

Marie Moucarry
University of Birmingham - Student Life Secretary

Marie is a post-graduate student studying a Masters in International Development. She became a Christian through the work of Agapé and now wants to help others discover Jesus for themselves. She explains: "I decided to be a student leader because I feel young Christian students enter into the university environment with little support. I also believe this is the time of their lives that will influence them the most so we need to be encouraging them to grow in their faith. We're students ourselves so we understand and are going through the same experience. Finally, I want to give back because Agapé staff were so good to me during my undergrad years!"

Tom Parkin
University of Birmingham - Student Life President

Tom is a second year Engineering student and is the President of the Birmingham Agapé Student Life society. He is a keen fencer.
