Student Leaders

"Agapé Student Life is committed to the audacious principle of student leadership - the belief that students are best placed to make Jesus known at their own universities. Throughout history, wherever students have stepped up to lead the effects have been powerful, creative and contagious. Our job as Agapé staff is to be experts in spotting and developing potential, helping equip students to lead. We want to inspire student leaders that God wants to use them to make a difference at their universities and in the lives of their peers." (Andy Atkins, Agapé UK)

Nanette Kissi
University of Birmingham

Nanette is a final year Biology student at the University of Birmingham. She explains why she became a Student Leader: "The reason I became an Agapé Student Leader is because I wanted to be comfortable sharing Jesus with people around me - something I find quite difficult. Since it was something I’d been praying about for ages it felt like the right thing to do. I also thought that by getting involved I would learn a lot and mature as a Christian."

Clare Potter
Clare is a Music student and became a Christian in her 1st year at the University of Birmingham. She talks of her experience as a student leader: "When I was asked to become a student leader, I hadn't been a Christian for very long and it came as quite a surprise! On reflection though, I've found it to be the best decision I've made so far at university. It's a joy and a challange, but above all a huge privilege."

Mukovhe Matshonyonge
University of Birmingham

Mukhove explains, "I wanted first-hand experience on being a disciple of the Lord through practising what He said in Acts 1:8. Agapé provided the platform for one to be discipled and then go on and be witness for the Lord around campus.

Being a student leader provides the opportunity to engage with other Christian students just like me, discuss the challenges we encounter, and just encouraging and supporting each other in our walk with Christ through prayer and scripture."
