Student Leaders

"Agapé Student Life is committed to the audacious principle of student leadership - the belief that students are best placed to make Jesus known at their own universities. Throughout history, wherever students have stepped up to lead the effects have been powerful, creative and contagious. Our job as Agapé staff is to be experts in spotting and developing potential, helping equip students to lead. We want to inspire student leaders that God wants to use them to make a difference at their universities and in the lives of their peers." (Andy Atkins, Agapé UK National Director)

Below you'll find a bit of information about the Student Leaders in Bristol.

Sam Birmingham
UWE

Sam is a third year student at UWE and having been involved with Agapé in his second year decided to become a Student Life leader this year.

"Being involved with the Agapé community and having had a chance to speak about my faith I see Student Leadership as a chance to serve and grow in my faith."

David Dijemeni
University of Bristol

David is a first year student at Bristol who having found out about Student Life during Freshers' Week has stepped up to leadership.

“The passion, joy and fulfilment in sharing the gospel with my fellow students are my principal reasons for choosing to become a student leader. Agapé engages, engrosses and equips people with the captivating, communicative and creative skill of sharing the biblical faith in accordance to the word of God. I knew Agapé Student Life was my stuff from the word go. I could not resist the excitement, entertainment, enjoyment and experience of a being a student leader. I chose to become one as quick as Ben asked me.”

Li Shan Lee
University of Bristol

Li Shan is a first year who heard about Student Life through a friend at another university. She was one of the first people to become a student leader this year.

"I thought it would be really cool to organise activities for my friends to get them thinking about spiritual matters and specifically Christianity, and being involved with Student Life would help me to learn and grow in this area so that I can share what I learn with my friends!"

Alice Gunn
University of Bristol

Alice is a first year student who first bumped into Agapé during The Connection.

"When I was asked to be a student leader I was like, sure, go ahead, that's the kind of person that I am. Since then I've started a SEED group and am learning how to use my gifts to disciple others and engage with friends to talk about faith.

Karenza Hulse

Karenza is a first year student and the newest student leader at Bristol.

"I thought it was a good idea [to become a student leader], but panicked due to a lack of confidence in my ability to evangelise. I thought it would be easier to co-lead a group, but God challenged me to lead in my own way and now I have my own SEED group."
