The Projects Continue
By David Blower 1 Jul 2010

Students and staff are entering the homestretch on their summer projects abroad.

In the Far East

I felt this struggle at dinner when we met with the girl, mentioned in our last correspondence, but God helped us push through. We shared the gospel in depth with her (for 2 hours!). At many points it felt like we hit a dead end, that she would maybe think about it one day and then she would change and the conversation would go on. She thinks God is knocking at her door for the second time this year and she is considering opening it, maybe on Friday after her exams when she will meet us for a final farewell party. She is seriously considering.  At this party we will be able to introduce some of the friends we’ve made here to local believers.

After lunch today we met with two other girls who we shared some Bible stories with. They enjoyed them very much, asked lots of questions and were excited to take Bibles away to read themselves. They asked if we could share more stories with them next time. Wow!

The boys are finding it a little more difficult to reach a deeper level of conversation with the guys they are meeting with. It would be great if that changed and they know which friends to keep meeting with this week.

Keep praying for us. He is hearing.

In Russia

We're off to British camp tomorrow...and away from internet until at least Tuesday. So I thought I'd send out some prayer requests for the next week, which promises to be exhausting but exhilarating!

At British camp we will have thirty students, plus eight of the Russian staff. Each morning will be conversation classes, structured around the topic of identity, and then in the afternoons there will be sport, crafts, film projects and music happening. In the evenings we will have a quiz on British culture, a Soul Talk, the film 'Amazing Grace', and an optional bible study.

Please pray for energy and for integrity. We want to honour the students by helping them with their English and giving them a great time, but also we do want to explain the gospel to them, without being pushy. Also, please pray for opportunities to share our faith and for this to bear fruit.

The past few days have been beautifully sunny and hot, which has enabled lots of good times meeting students on campus. We were also able to meet up with Russian students we knew from previous projects which has been brilliant.
