“Prayer is intercession, ‘knocking on the doors of heaven with bruised knuckles’ (Buttrick, 1942)
In the midst of change and loosing your balance, prayer is a way of grounding yourself in God’s love and confidence that He is with you. Prayer is the assurance that there is a God who knows what’s going on in your inner being and longs to be closer than close to you no matter what you have done or how you feel.
Prayer is plugging into God’s fathomless love, mercy, grace, joy, peace, strength and hope. Prayer is laughter and song, delight and joy, but also fierce and emotional, honest and sincere. It is an act of letting go of trying to control your lives and recognising Him as the one whose purpose for you will not be thwarted by any change or circumstance. Prayer is grasping hold of God and not letting go.
