Raising Your Finances

The cost of a Global Project ranges from around £1,200-£1,600 for longer trips and £400-£700 for week-long ones. This may seem like a daunting amount, especially if you’re a student, but it’s actually a really exciting part of the experience of going on a Global Project.

We encourage everyone to develop a team of partners – friends, family and churches – who partner with you as you go by both praying for you and giving financially towards the costs of the Global Project.

As you develop this team of partners you’ll see that God has made all the resources you need available to you. It’s simply about trusting him and making your needs known to enough people so you can find the ones he has called to join you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be given help to raise finances?

Yes! If you are accepted we’ll send you a training pack which includes both biblical advice and practical tips. The Agapé UK staff at your uni will also help you (just ask!). If there aren’t any Agapé UK staff near you, we can help by phone or e-mail too.

When do I need to start raising finances?

If you are accepted onto a project, we’ll send you an Acceptance Pack. As soon as you’ve received it, you should start raising finances then. Of course it’s a good idea to talk to a few trusted Christian friends about your plans before you’re accepted – you can let them know about your financial needs then too.

Is there a deadline for raising funds?

You must have all the funding for your Global Project before you leave. Your Global Project Leader will communicate other deadlines to you once you are accepted.

What if I raise more than I need?

We would encourage you to consider giving some of the money to another Global Project participant who hasn’t raised all their finances yet.

What if I don’t raise enough?

From past experience this hasn’t been a common issue – we believe that if God wants you to go on the Global Project, he will provide all you need. If you are severely short of the required amount, we may re-consider whether the Global Project is for you, but would make a decision on a case-by-case basis. There may also be scope for those who have raised more than they need to help out those who are struggling.

Can donations be Gift Aided?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. A recent change in government regulations concerning short-term trips means that Agapé UK will be unable to claim Gift Aid on any donations towards Global Projects.

If you have any other questions about raising finances for Global Projects, please e-mail: globalprojects@agape.org.uk. We’d be more than happy to help!
